E_2022_URBANCREATIVITY (1)

6TH > 9TH JULY I FBAUL

Conference from 7th to 9th of July – Auditorium of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon (and remote)

Activities July 6th to 9tH
DXD Open (Lagoa Henriques Auditorium)
Meeting of Styles Lisbon Warm UP (Calçada da Glória)

LIMINAL is the 2022 theme. Liminality is the quality of ambiguity or disorientation that occurs in the middle stage of a rite of passage, when participants do not maintain their pre-ritual status but have not yet begun the transition to the status they will have when the rite is complete. Terms  such as abandonment and ruin exemplify a presence with liminality, as a phenomenon that gradually disperses into the progressive placidity of an urban setting. Of course, the adverse context of post-pandemic uncertainty and the multiple national and international crises of today cannot be overlooked.

The conference is for the first time in a hybrid format with the participation of approximately 20 speakers locally and 20 remotely. As usual, it is assumed to be a reference event, markedly international, with the participation of experts from more than 22 nationalities.

The local participation of Anton Polsky, an academic and creator from Moscow, should be highlighted, he will present a critical reflection on “Street Art during the Russian invasion of Ukraine”.

We are pleased to include in our program the Graduate Show: DXD Open and to simultaneously carry out plastic interventions on the Calçada da Glória, an activity resulting from the international call for works in collaboration with the renowned international event Meeting of Styles.

Finally, it is important to mention that Urban Creativity is an event associated with a growing publication activity, 5 Scientific Journals, and several annual monographs.
