From Microbes to Mars: Zooming In and Out with Biodesign with Ena Naito
What does it mean to design together with microorganisms? This talk explores how biodesign opens up ways of working across scales – from the microscopic to the planetary, in order to reimagine materials, sustainability, and our shared ecological future.
Ena Naito is a doctoral researcher in biodesign at Aalto University in Finland. Her research focuses on understanding and creating infrastructures for engaging with sustainable design practices. She has founded and is currently running the BioMakerStudio at Aalto University, a hybrid fabrication space dedicated to hands-on exploration of biological growing, making, and designing.
