The Daily Post-Truth – out now!

E_2021_DAILYPOSTTRUTH

The Daily Post-Truth is a free distribution newspaper focused on the tensions between truth and post-truth, fiction and reality, resulting from a joint project between the Communication Design Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon (FBAUL) and the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (maat).

The project is motivated by a renewed interest in fiction, within artistic practices and design in particular, as one of the discursive modes that is best able to restore a sense of reality in an age of post-truth. By creatively exploring the newspaper, as a publishing model in crisis, The Daily Post-Truth uses fiction as the basis for a speculative and critical design practice that seeks to question the tenets of the dissemination of disinformation in the post-truth era.

The Daily Post-Truth newspaper includes the texts Design is Fiction by Alexandra Midal and Truth or Lies: Democracy and Populism by Paulo Pena, which give rise to the contents Extended Marginalia on Design and Fiction and Disinformation Machine Diagram (also available at maat ext.), and are the basis for posters or fictitious advertising developed by students of the bachelor and master’s degree in Communication Design at FBAUL. The newspaper was developed in a workshop held at maat with students of the master’s degree in Communication Design (Abel Quental, Beatriz Pinta, Diogo Lourenço and Madalena Lopes), coordinated by António Nicolas, Luísa Ribas and Sofia Gonçalves.

Now available at maat (ticket office).
